Čabar, a town in the northern part of Gorski Kotar, in the valley of the Cabranka river; Economy is based on wood-processing. The town is located on the regional road: a border crossing between Croatia and Slovenia.
In 1651 Petar Zrinski built a blast furnace as well as an aristocratic citadel. In 1663 he founded a parish and erected the parish church of St. Anthony of Padua with a three-storey bell tower in Baroque style.
